20 APRIL – 20 MAY 2018
Belgrade’s audience will have the opportunity to see the first part of Miloš Tomić’s ongoing project titled “Precious Trash”, created in collaboration with Ivan Zupanc and Dejan Živadinović.
Miloš Tomić (b. 1976) is one among the most eminent multimedia artists from our region. His vocabulary gives his work a relationship with different references and background. Over the last twenty years he showed his work in over fifty international exhibitions and festivals. He also represented Serbia at 55th Venice Biennale.
(…) Fascination with waste and rejected objects came from Tomić’s early childhood, and objet trouvé became an integral part of his artistic practice from the very beginning. He regenerates these forgotten objects and gives them both a place and a role in a new context. The actual found objects are presented in a series of photographs that are freed from the smells, mud, moss and dust, and so the objects are embellished and aestheticized, revealing absolutely new faces and details to the observer. This metamorphosis is one of the finest examples that shows us how one man’s trash can become another man’s treasure. (…)
